He sounds like he's missing something or someone he knows he can't have now

Full Name: Natalie Allison McDonald
Nicknames: Nat, Natty, Natalicious, McD, Old McDonald and various other plays off her name.
Birth Date: June 15th, 1983, 23
Blood Line: Muggleborn
Place of Education: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
House: Gryffindor
Years Attended: 1994 - 2001
Wand: 9 inch, Oak with a phoenix feather
Sexual Orientation: Straight. Quite straight even.
Current Residence: Natalie has a small flat in Liverpool. It’s basically crap and mostly not robbed only because she has a number of wards on it, but she likes the city without actually being in London. It does actually three areas, having the bathroom and bedroom separated from the sitting room/kitchen/dining area.
Occupation: Secretary (Administrative Assistant) for the Head Editor of Obscurus Books

Pet(s) if any: None.

Personality: They say war has many victims, but people seem to notice the innocent ones far less than the ones who risked their lives. Natalie is little exception to this rule, once the sort that would just run outside to dance in the rain for no reason at all. She was a lot more bright and smiley during her early years of school. The year of torture at the hands of people who were supposed to be her teachers and friends. It really changed how she saw people when first knowing them, as she’s now rather cautious and not as trusting of new people or those she really doesn’t know well. She’s also a little quieter though there are times that you can get her really happy over something and there’s just a glimpse of the same pre-teen girl cheerfulness.

One thing that has never changed is Natalie’s complete truthfulness. She’s not completely incapable of lying, but it’s very obvious that she’s doing so from the little twitches she’ll get. It’s just far easier to keep track of the truth than a bunch of lies after all, right? Right. Though the worse part is that she’s very likely to say exactly what comes to her mind the moment it comes to her mind. Natalie is also fairly well organized, which is very good considering her job of keeping someone else organized as well as her desk.

Natalie was once fairly sure of the idea that she had the Gryffindor sort of courage to stand up for her ideals and to protect herself and her friends. Now she’s not completely sure that she’d be able to since she knows what could happen to her. She might again one day, but having your nightmares become reality really got to her.

Appearance: Natalie would not really consider herself a pretty girl, not being extremely tall (5'6") nor really what she would even consider skinny. She's content with herself, but not to a point that she would consider herself pretty. Her medium blonde hair is naturally curly and down to just a few inches below her shoulders. She's generally a pale person as well, finding she burns rather hard out in the sun to the point that some people question if she's just sick all the time. Her eyes are an almost greyish shade of hazel, fading a bit between the two. She'll wear a pair of glasses more when she's just at home. They're bigger than she'd like and not completely fond of how she looks at them.
PB: Rachel McAdams

History: Sarah James was not exactly dating her way up in the world like her parents had hoped. They had gone up to the Scottish Highlands and hadn't expected their precious daughter to start a summer romance with the book shoppe boy. They really hadn't expected to see him again when they came to visit Sarah at school either, still working and still dating their daughter. Sarah was just enamored by Joel McDonald though with his slight Scottish accent and smile. If her parents didn’t approve of them dating though, Sarah was almost disowned when she accepted Joel’s marriage proposal upon finishing school.

Natalie McDonald was born almost three years later though, born and raised in the small town of Rosemarkie in the Scottish Highland. Her father was running his parents’ book shoppe by that point and her mother was writing freelance as she would continue to do to stay home with her babies. Nat was a rather sweet baby though, growing up like a normal muggle child, running around and driving her parents crazy. She was about five when her sister was born. She was fairly excited about having her baby sister around, helping out any way she could. Even Natalie wasn’t completely sure how she managed to get her one year old sister into her bed one night though when she couldn’t recall getting up to try and get her.

She was just past her eleventh birthday when she received a letter inviting her to a school with a rather odd name. Who had ever actually heard of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry after all? They would have thought it was an odd joke other than the owl that delivered it and the visit shortly after from a woman in green robes saying she was the assistant Headmistress of the school and that Natalie was invited to go and learn to become a witch if she pleased. Natalie was rather excited at the idea and agreed, almost bouncing as she got her school supplies.

Natalie got on the Hogwarts Express on September 1, 1994, unaware of anything that had been going on with the Quidditch World Cup, nor what Quidditch was for that matter. She was sorted into Gryffindor and was excited to see the Triwizard Tournament her first year there. With the return of Voldemort at the end of the year, she went home with a lot of worries and unsure of what was going on. One of the older years had been talking about the sort of things that had happened when this man that had everyone afraid to the point of just calling him ‘You-Know-Who’ had been around on her last night at Hogwarts. She didn’t dare tell her parents anything rather than making up an excuse for it.

Second year was very quiet, with the exception of the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts. When Quidditch Season started, she was at all of the games, wide-eyed and interested in finding out what she could, checking out a copy of Quidditch through the Ages. There were no spots open on the team by that point though, so she was find with being a spectator as the players swerved around dodging bludgers, throwing the quaffle and catching the Snitch in the end. She never doubted Harry or Dumbledore about the return, so when the paper about Fudge announcing it came out, she wondered a bit what was wrong with the Wizarding world government. Once again, she returned home with no mention of it to her parents, partly out of the fear that they wouldn’t let her return to school again. Working up her nerve, she asked for a flying broom for her birthday, and received a Nimbus 2001.

Natalie tried out with no luck in getting on the Gryffindor Quidditch team her third year. With all the deaths and vanishings plus the attack on the school at the end of the year and the death of the Headmaster made it a bit harder to keep things from her parents so she finally broke down and told them everything. It was a hard choice but they allowed her to go back to school for the rest of her school career at Hogwarts. She got scared though when she received a summons to go to the Ministry of Magic at age 14. Things now taken over by the very thing they feared, she had to try and prove some amount of magical history. She lied with the first name she could recall from looking through records and trophies around the Hogwarts, Mary MacDonald. It wasn’t event he same last name, but it was credible and enough to keep her back in school with the claim.

She stayed quiet that year though, doing what she had to within reason, though that was rarely enough for the new Professors. She was also considered very much a muggleborn Witch despite having some level of “proof” that she didn’t steal her magical powers, so she was usually the one tortured by those willing to do so. Her parents would have never let her go back after Christmas, and part of her really didn’t want to go back. Where would she go though? The Death Eaters were in charge of everything and if she didn’t go back, they’d likely take her to Azkaban or worse. She just kept the hex marks covered at home and continued trying to act as though nothing was wrong. Natalie is not completely sure how she survived that year, leaving though when the call came that the students were being evacuated.

And after that just felt odd. She had spent most of her time at Hogwarts afraid of this evil force that was the sort of thing you only heard about in bed time stories and now he was just… gone. Then there were also so many of her housemates and people that had lost their lives, how could she just go back to school and walk through the halls again? She had already questioned it so many times though in the past and since the first time of walking in there. It was three more years and going to be some of the most vital when it came to her magical education.

She found Hogwarts to be a bit colder though than she remembered it, having lost students to the next world or those that didn’t want to go back. She was especially sad to see Dennis no longer there, writing him owls between tests and homework, none of which that ever got sent to him short of one on Christmas and another on his birthday. Nat did fairly well on her OWLs, going on to take Arithmacy, Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts her NEWT year. She was also rather excited to have Dennis back at school, even if he was a year behind her so they no longer had classes together.

Natalie really noticed the difference in her old classmate, feeling bad for him even trying to be back in class even after a year of Colin being gone. The two would spend time together and just talk about anything and nothing at all. He eventually admitted that he was developing a rather hard crush on Orla Quirke, a Ravenclaw in their year. She knew she should be happy for him and convince him that he should go tell her about this whole idea about possibly dating. She found that she was actually rather jealous of the other girl, which was a rather confusing feeling. She wasn’t supposed to be jealous of some girl that her best friend fancied after all. She finally started realizing that she was starting to fancy him while he had a thing for the Ravenclaw girl. She tried to give him subtle little hints while trying not to let on too much while also trying to just get over it and let him be happy. Orla wasn’t returning his advances though in much the same manner that he was unconsciously doing to her until one evening near the end of her sixth year she just had enough and literally knocked some sense into him, told him about her feelings and gave him an ultimatum. Tell her to stop having these feelings for him or see if he might not be able to return them.

He decided to let them start dating, spending most of her final year of school with a camera on her a number of the time, seemingly when she was doing anything at all. She’d just offer him a smile after she realized what exactly he was doing at any given amount of time. She finished school though, writing back and forth over the next year when he was still at school. Natalie had about enough of the Wizarding World though and went back home for the next two years and worked at and partially managed the family bookstore. She soon found it wasn’t quite as fun when she could only do magic when everyone was gone or at home where everyone knew. She saved her money and eventually moved out, finding a small flat in Liverpool. She also got a job working at Obscurus Books, getting in as a secretary to the Editor and has been maintaining her position there ever since.

Natalie and Dennis have since had a rather on again, off again relationship. He still frustrates her to death some days, but he’s gotten better over time. She’s never really cheated on him though, even when they were during one of their off periods. Nat just hopes that they will never completely torn to pieces to the point that they’d never talk to each other again.

Political alliance, and reason for this choice: Anti-Dark. She was never invited to join the DA and was far too young to know much if anything about the Order at all. She just knows that she doesn’t want it to happen again. She’s had enough of being hexed and tortured to last a lifetime.
